Don’t you just love a good chiller? I do. Nothing like a slow uneasy burn, only to throw in a twist that changes everything and makes you feel just sick at your stomach. But that’s just the story. Everything else is in the atmosphere, the kind that suggests you spend the whole night looking over your shoulder, peering into the darkness as you walk to the kitchen for a glass of water at midnight, even long after you’ve finished reading. The kind of story that haunts your mind and plays with your eye. But, above all, regardless of my love for monsters and ominous settings, it is the cruelty of horror that makes it both so revolting, and so alluring. These are the chillers I try to write. Steel your gut and prepare yourself.
The best part is, words can’t jump-scare you. Ever. Praise the Lord.
